St John the Evangelist, based on a carving by Tilman Riemenschneider

The statue is half life-size. 870 x 510 x 310mm. It shows the Evangelist St John, author of the Gospel Acording to John and the Book of Revelation. He is often represented in art with his special symbol, the Eagle, which I have included in my composition. The words of the text, painted in ink, are in New Testament Greek. They start, 'In the beginning was the word....'. (photos by M. Painter and C. Letchford)
